Role Title

Marketing & Outreach Coordinator (Volunteer)

Purpose of the Role

To support the growth and impact of Encourage Mental Health by increasing awareness of our training, particularly within churches and community organisations, through marketing, content creation, and proactive outreach.

This role plays a key part in helping more people access our mental health training and resources.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule social media content (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Create engaging posts aligned with key themes  (mental health, church support)
  • Write blog articles for the website to increase visibility and credibility
  • Contact churches and faith-based organisations (via phone/email) to introduce training opportunities
  • Maintain and update a simple outreach tracker (e.g. contacts made, responses)
  • Support development of marketing campaigns for events, workshops, and awareness weeks
  • Contribute ideas for growing the organisation’s reach

Role Boundaries

  • This is a volunteer role and does not involve responsibility for final business decisions
  • Content and messaging will be agreed in collaboration with Dr Cheryl Hawkins
  • The volunteer is not expected to provide mental health advice or support directly to clients

Expected Commitment

  • Flexible, approximately 2–5 hours per week
  • Remote role (with supervision meetings online)

Skills and Qualities (Essential)

  • Good written communication skills
  • Confidence using social media platforms
  • Friendly and professional communication (especially for outreach calls/emails)
  • Organised and able to work independently
  • There is an occupational requirement that this role be filled by a someone with a Christian faith as they are representing our organisation

Skills and Qualities (Desirable)

  • Experience in marketing, communications, or fundraising
  • Interest in mental health and/or faith-based work
  • Experience writing blogs or creating online content

Support and Supervision

  • Regular check-ins with Dr Cheryl Hawkins
  • Clear guidance on messaging, tone, and priorities
  • Opportunity to develop marketing and communication skills

Expenses

  • Agreed expenses (e.g. phone costs for outreach) can be reimbursed
